On Destiny

The fate that put us in this pain
Our “only” choice of destiny
Is not so bad as that I saw
Who had no voice for purpose lost,
His only inklings in the laughs
Of fad and fashion on a screen
While we went grim-faced all along.
Oh grin we did but something deep
Withheld a curious question something
Not quite right we said and is:
It us or it?
Admitting no integrity we
Bode our time with inner thought
Plied with patient clarity the books
The facts, the trends of time
And felt a prophecy foretold
From science science after all
Though deed enacted first in soul
A truth that triumphs over all
The South shall rise again!
